Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 15, 2026
USLicenseCheck ("we", "us") operates the website uslicensecheck.com (the "Service"). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Search queries. The license numbers, names, or business names you enter are processed to return results. We may keep aggregate, non-identifying logs of searches to operate and improve the Service.
- Account data. If you create a developer/API account, we store your email, a hashed password, and your organization name.
- Contact submissions. If you email us or use the contact form, we keep your message and email to reply.
- Log & device data. Like most websites, our servers automatically record IP address, browser type, referring pages, and timestamps.
- Cookies. We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies as described below.
We do not collect payment card numbers, Social Security numbers, or health data. Licensing records shown by the Service are public records published by state agencies — see our Data Sources page.
How we use information
- To answer license searches and operate the Service.
- To create and secure accounts and issue API keys.
- To respond to your messages and support requests.
- To monitor performance, prevent abuse, and improve features.
- To display advertising that helps keep public search free (see below).
Cookies and web beacons
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them to remember preferences and understand usage. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work as well.
Third-party advertising & Google AdSense
We use third-party advertising companies, including Google, to serve ads when you visit the Service. These companies may use information (not including your name, address, email, or phone number) about your visits to this and other websites to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you.
- Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on our site.
- Google's use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to our Service and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices or optout.networkadvertising.org.
For more information on how Google uses data when you use our partners' sites, see Google's Privacy & Terms.
We do not sell your personal information
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information, and we do not build private profiles of individuals. The licensing records we display are public records published by state agencies for the purpose of public verification. We do not place advertising on pages that show an individual license record.
Your choices & rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the California Consumer Privacy Act or the EU/UK GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to opt out of certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us. Because licensing records are public records maintained by state agencies, corrections to a specific license must be made with the issuing state board.
Data security & retention
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect information and retain it only as long as needed to provide the Service or as required by law. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
