About USLicenseCheck
A single, trustworthy place to verify whether someone holds a valid professional or occupational license — anywhere in the United States.
Why we built it
License verification in the U.S. is fragmented. Every state runs its own board and its own lookup tool, each with a different interface, format, and set of quirks. If you need to confirm a nurse, contractor, accountant, or cosmetologist — especially across state lines — you end up hunting through dozens of separate websites.
USLicenseCheck brings that data together. We ingest official licensing datasets published by the states themselves and make them searchable from one place, by license number, by name, or by business — scoped to a single state or across every state at once.
Where the data comes from
Every record originates from an official state source — open-data portals and licensing-agency bulk files published by the states. We don't buy third-party lists or scrape private databases. For states with an open data feed, records refresh automatically each day; for states that only publish periodic files, we load the latest published file.

How current is it?
We show the source date on each record where the state provides one. Licensing status can change at any moment, so USLicenseCheck is an informational tool — for legal, hiring, or credentialing decisions, always confirm directly with the issuing board.
How we handle personal data
The licensing records we show are public records that states publish specifically so the public can verify who is authorized to practice. We present that public data for legitimate verification only. We do not sell personal information, we do not compile private profiles, and we do not place advertising on individual license-record pages. Use of the Service is subject to our Terms — most importantly, results are not a consumer report and must not be used for decisions covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
For developers
